When I was young 5 or 6  the old man next door ,Chris, died of  lung cancer ….the last time I saw him  they were bringing him home to die  ……I still remember it clearly.
Then there was the newly wed woman with the powder blue Citron car who lived in the corner house , she died of throat cancer , I cant remember her name , I think it was Karen but I remember her age she was 24.   
My dad had cancer of the prostrate …after radio therapy he was given the all clear .
His brother had cancer of the lymph gland after treatment he was given the all clear…but after some time he was diagnosed with bone cancer and the doctors said “one course of treatment is all we can do” ….in the doctors own words “it was a miracle” ….he had his second all clear , recently he had another blood test for cancer and the cell count was high …Cancer was back …I guess this is three and out …
My uncle from west Wales had multiple cancers , lung , kidneys , stomach all the organs within the torso basically …..he died.
My best friend’s mother had breast cancer , she had a mastectomy she had the all clear .
Last week I found out that a woman from few doors up from me had been diagnosed with breast cancer to , she had a mastectomy but wasn’t given the all clear , last Friday she was admitted into a hospice for the terminally ill….
Yesterday the newspapers ran a story on the governments new anti smoking drive …they showed pictures of various cancers , there was one picture of a man with a beard with throat cancer , this tumor was sticking out so far , it was not a picture you’d forget in a hurry …. Then in the afternoon a woman I work with showed me this lump on her throat that had been there for some time ,she was on the way to the doctors ,  the lump had the same coloring as the one in the paper it was just hundreds of times smaller ,I hope it just an infected spot…….
